Fun in the Snow

Assignment #9 If I Had $100

For assignment #9 we had to research different organizations like Plan Canada, The Salvation Army, Oxfam, and World Vision. Our class had to look at the different gifts that they had for people in third world countries. We also had to record how many gift options each organization had and what  the cheapest and most expensive gift was.  Each  student was given $100. We had to choose different gifts that the organizations had.

Here is what I chose, from World Vision I chose to educate a girl for $60, from Plan Canada I chose to buy a soft baby blanket for $10 and a mango tree for $12, from Oxfam I chose a chicken for $15. That totals to $97. That is what I chose.

I chose World Vision because it was the organization that had the most gift options. I chose Plan Canada because second  organization that had the most gift options. I chose Oxfam because it was the third organization that had the most gift options. I also chose them all because they had really good options.

The reason why I chose to educate a girl for $60 because a lot of girls can't go to school. The reason why I chose to buy a soft baby blanket for $10 because baby's need comfort and warmth. I chose to buy  a mango tree for $12 because people need food and lots of people in third world countries don't have a lot of food. The reason why I chose to buy a chicken for $15 is because a chicken provides food and money, the people could sell the eggs or eat them. Those are my reasons why I chose those gifts.

That is what I would do with $100. Hope you enjoyed reading this post!!

My class had a great time at Durham Forest! Some of us climbed a ten foot wall.
All of us got to hold a snake. We went hiking too! Everyone did the solo walk at night through the woods.

Opinion Is a Flitting Thing

The abominal snowman in his opinion would like to make a delicious sno-cone out of the little penguin's home. The little penguin might think the snowman's opinion is funny or maybe even scary.

Opinions can be truthful. Other times there might not be any truth in it at all. It is not good to judge a movie, book or person based on someone's opinion. It is better to find out the truth for yourself.

The Golden Rule

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFUHYTczzS4
What is the message of the Golden Rule? Treat others the way you would want to be treated

Which expression of the Golden Rule do you like the best? I like the Christianity one. Why? I like it because it has a bible verse in it, and also God spoke those words.

What could things be like if everyone behaved according to the Golden Rule? I think everyone would be really nice and would not make fun of people. I think the world would be a lot more peaceful ?

Why is it that sometimes we don’t behave according to the Golden Rule? We may not think of the rule while we are being mean or rude. People can forget  a lot.

Behind My Name

Behind My Name: Holly
Before I started this assignment, I always thought my name was nice. I think my parents chose this name for me because they must have thought it was pretty.
After searching on Behind the Name I learned that my name means a Holly Tree, you know the one you use for Christmas with the red berries?
Some other interesting things I learned are that it is an old English name. I think my name suits me because I guess I’m used to it.
If I could give myself a new name I think I would never do it because I like my name so much!

Stolen Jackpot!

What I first thought after I read the article is "Why would someone do that?!" This makes me feel sorry for the person  who got their lottery ticket stolen. This also makes me feel kind of mad because it may make other employees feel that they can do it too. Money can make people greedy! I hope they find the real owner!

Tonight my best friend and I went to our riding lesson and we got to canter again! After we finished our lesson we both groomed the minature horse and pony.
